5 Mantras For 2020

Goals and New year resolutions are nice, but have you tried using mantras? People usually think of mantras as chants that people use to meditate, or humming in yoga classes. That is not necessarily true. Mantras can be anything like a bible verse or your favorite quote.

I find that using mantras  are a good way to keep yourself motivated and accountable. Yes you’ve set your smart goals for the years, but how do you stay on track? How will you avoid procrastinating? How will you keep pushing? That’s where your mantras come in.

I’ll be honest, this is my first time intentionally using mantras.a Being a full time working mom can be hectic, and I found that I really struggled last year with time management and I was often overwhelmed. I barely made deadlines, and I am still the queen of procrastination. I decided that I’ve got to find a way to do better this year, so I’ve decided to use mantras to help me stay on track.

Here are a few mantras that I’ll be using.

Failure to plan is planning to fail.

Have you ever had the brightest idea that you day dreamed about over and over again? You knew  the details to the T but you just never actually planned it out? As a result it remained just that. An idea that never came to fruition.

This happens to me every day. Especially with my blog. I have some pretty good ideas about some great topics to blog about, but I always fail to set time apart to write them down. This also carries over to so many “projects” that I’ve thought about but never executed.

Setting time apart to plan things out is key to being successful. You cannot achieve success by winging it. In order to keep myself accountable, I bought a planner and actually wrote things down this time around. I also penciled in time to plan my week ahead every Sunday. I’ve even sat down and wrote down things that I need to work on, and events to attend for the next 90 days! This gives me a bigger picture on the workload ahead.

My challenge for you: Write down what you need to work on over the next 90 days. It may be a weight loss goal, projects, events, travels, anything that you will execute for the next 90 days. Then set apart 60 minutes each week to plan how you will execute them.

No masterpiece was ever created by a lazy artist.

Put in the work sis! We are so guilty of wanting to get results, without putting in the work. Success does not happen overnight. If you want to perfect your craft, you will have to work hard and smart. You do not have the leisure to be lazy, to procrastinate, or to get complacent.

My challenge for you: Whatever work you are putting in right now, double the effort. Challenge yourself to get better at one thing. See how the results will change.

Nothing lasts forever. Not the good. Not the bad.

I always say this to myself. When I’m having a good day, especially when I’m on vacation,  I fully emerge myself, and I live fully in the moment because it won’t last. The best advice I’ve ever gotten about my wedding day was to enjoy it to the fullest. I remember getting a call that morning saying that the flowers in the water fountain were sinking. I shrugged and said “ok”. I really didn’t care if things went perfectly or not. I knew that this very special day that I spent months planning, would be over in a few hours. All I wanted was to live in the moment and savor each one. And that is exactly what I did.

This is mantra is really important when you’re going through a tough time. Remember this also won’t last. No matter how bad it is, it won’t last forever.

My challenge for you: Next time you’re facing a tough situation, remember that it will pass. Think about the last time you thought you weren’t gonna make it, and how you made it through. Likewise, the next time you’re in a good place: Cherish the moment.

I can do all things through Christ!

This is probably my favorite verse of the bible. It has carried me through some tough times, helped me fight depression, and gave me strength when I wanted to give up. This is truly a strong mantra that will shift your energy, your thoughts and remind you of God’s promises. No matter how big or small the tasks, God has equipped you with the tools to accomplish them.

My challenge for you: Instead of quitting, next time you feel overwhelmed, go to the source. Remember that he is the God of abundance, and you have what it takes.

No one can steal your joy!

Read that again, and again, and again. I have learned to master this in life. I do not give anyone power over me and my joy. No I do not walk around on cloud nine all day every day, but if you give someone else the power to control your joy, my darling, you will suffer. Once you tap into the understanding that what we feel is ours, independent of the surrounding circumstances, we can reclaim the omnipotent power of which we are all capable — to feel, manifest, and live all that what we desire.

My challenge for you: Carry your own weather. Do no let anyone dictate or affect your mood. You are in charge of how you feel.

Do you use mantras?
