Life Update: Do Not Refill!

Hello Darlings!

What a long time it's been since we've been in touch! My very last post was in January, and it's been 4 whole months since I have blogged. To be completely honest, I haven't even checked my blog page in a while! During this long period of silence, several of you reached out to me and it meant the world to me! Knowing that you noticed my absence, and checked in to see if all is well, made me realize that we've built a relationship through my platform, and I thank each and everyone one of you who took the time to reach out. *Insert virtual hug*

What On Earth Have I Been Up To?

Let's do a little housekeeping shall we?

Right after I published my last blog post in January, several things happened that consumed all of my time and energy.

First, I started a new position in the states, (while still overseeing things at the school in Haiti). This was a good opportunity for me at the time, so I was ecstatic about this new venture.

Then, my husband and I had to move  to our new place, and boy do I hate moving! Working full time and finding the time to pack up all our belongings in less than a month seemed nearly impossible! It got done, but it was so draining!

Ready for the icing on the cake?  In the midst of starting a new job and moving, we found out that WE ARE EXPECTING!!! Yes, you've read that right! Our family is growing! Although it took us by surprise, we couldn't be more excited to start our greatest adventure as parents!

WHEN DID WE FIND OUT?

We found out towards the end of January. I was coming from work on a friday when I stopped by a grocery store to stock up on wine (because a glass of wine a day keeps the doctors away. Don't debate me!) . I grabbed the wine and suddenly realized that my cycle was late when I passed by the feminine napkin aisle. To be on the safe side, a grabbed a pregnancy test, the cheapest that I could find of course, because a positive result was the furthest thing on my mind.

Ironically, I later on found out, that I wouldn't be able to enjoy another glass of wine for a while actually.

Do Not Refill Until September

HOW FAR ALONG ARE WE?

We well into our second trimester! So long "morning sickness" (it really lasts all day) !  Although it has now been replaced by the discomfort of muscles stretching and some aches and pains here and there, feeling our little munchkin kicks makes it totally worth it.

DO WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE HAVING?

Yes we do! We had our gender reveal with our family and close friends a couple of weeks ago and are so excited! No worries, I'll be sharing this news with you as well soon 🙂

ARE YOU SHOWING YET?

I definitely have a bump now! Which feels so odd!I sometimes forget that I'm growing a human until I stare at my bump or feel the kicks.

20 weeks bump!

WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG TO SHARE THE NEWS?

For starters we felt that this is a moment that should be shared with family members and close friends first. We also wanted to wait until after the first trimester to make any formal announcements. I personally don't feel like the blessing of carrying life  should be hidden, but it is absolutely up to the parents discretion who they want to share this moment with.

Part of me used to think that people disappeared from social media when they got pregnant in fear of people finding out. I am now convinced that the first few months of pregnancy leave you so tired, for those of us lucky enough not to be sick, that being on social media is at the very bottom of your priority list. In my case, when I wasn't researching morning sickness remedies,  I could barely stay awake to answer my text messages past 9pm. I also wanted to announce my pregnancy to my readers first, before making the announcement on my social media.

WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT MY PREGNANCY?

Not being able to drink wine. plain and simple.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read. Thank you again for your patience, love and support! I can't wait to share more of my journey with you. 2018 has been full of surprises already! We're so excited for what's to come!
